We have a couple more weeks left before our first day of school and I am trying to savor every moment. Even the fits and tantrums. Each one is going off to school this year. Even though baby girl will only be in pre-school a couple of days a week, it will be a huge change for me.
A new start for anything is a great catalyst for making changes. A new job, a new city, a new year, sometimes even just a new day can prompt us to make a change for the better. I hope more families will make the choice to go green for the beginning of this school year and keep it up through the whole year (and beyond).
I am excited to tell you about a new change in my life. I am a new contributor for the new SocialMoms.com site and have written a trio of articles about going green for back to school. I would love if you went over there and checked out (and shared!) my articles. There are some great tips and you can help me out in the comments if I missed any of yours.

SocialMoms has started working with some fabulous mama writers to deliver well-written, well-researched articles about everything from tech and politics to food and style, of course my favorite is probably the green parenting section! ;) SocialMoms also has an interesting loyalty program that encourages participation and support for our fellow mamas and in turn allows you to collect reward points that can be used to give charitable donations, or even earn gift cards or PayPal payments!
One question consistently asked of me about going green for back to school is how to find organic clothing, eco-friendly products, at a reasonable price? Look for what products will save you money in the long-term and help keep our kids and their world healthier.
I answer a lot of those questions in my SocialMoms articles, but here is a run down of my favorite consumer solutions to find eco-friendly and organic clothing for babies, preschoolers, and even big kids for less.
Lots of brands are also beginning to see that they can reach a broader audience and introduce families to their eco-friendly brand at more affordable prices through the daily deal sites. Sometimes you have to be patient, other times you have to be quick, but each site has had some amazing deals on great brands.
My favorite daily deal sites:
Pure Citizen – brings you a flash 72 hour sale featuring a company that is making our world a better place. Not only will their stories inspire you, but also for three days you have exclusive access on our site to purchase their items for 30% off or more. I love their innovative feature that allows you, if you wish, to give back a portion of your savings to a featured non-profit.

Totsy – a referral based private sale shopping experience that offers moms and families with exclusive deals and preferred pricing on hand-selected pregnancy, baby, kids up and family related items and services. Sales are up to 90% off.
