Scientists Taking Action. This week, more than two hundred, and counting, marine mammal scientists, veterinarians and conservation biologists from around the world signed a petition to “put an end to the brutal treatment and slaughter of dolphins (including small toothed whales) in the Japanese drive hunts.” You, too, can sign a petition to help protect these dolphins.
Animal Cruelty. This video has cemented my plans to no longer attend our local zoo until they cease to use bullhooks on their elephants. No matter your stance on PETA, or even Alec Baldwin (ha!), there is no doubt that the treatment of circus elephants is beyond cruel.
Pollution Problems. Using government data, a new report shows that 226 million pounds of toxic chemicals were dumped into U.S. lakes, rivers and streams in 2010. Was your state one of the top 5 polluters which account for nearly 40% of the total pollution?
The FDA and BPA. We are running out of time to tell the FDA to ban the toxic BPA. Take action before March, 31! We have a lot of work to do to eliminate, not replace, BPA and the reasons for it, but this is a battle we must fight for our health and our children’s health.
Spring Cleaning. I just scared you out of your wits regarding household cleaners, but a great post from the Green Moms Carnival is going to show you five simple green cleaning tips to get you started right this weekend.
Natural Mamas. I loved reading this review of Mayim Bialik’s new book, Beyond the Sling: A Real-Life Guide to Raising Confident, Loving Children the Attachment Parenting Way. I totally wish I could be friends with Blossom too.
Giveaway. I am giving away some Plum District gift cards to celebrate their camp week. Only a couple of days left to enter!
